Empty Nester Bambi Goco

xxxx
Last Saturday October 24, Batch63's Bambi & Kang Goco gave away in marriage their last remaining child. Kitten Goco married Jim Pabalan Jr. in Tagaytay Midland' resort's scenic setting. The wedding event was a stylish affair for the young couple with their limited number of guests. The guests were mostly young people, some coming from Boston where Kitten took up a graduate course. Jackie & Marilou Arellano and Oni & Bili Mayo did the long ride to Tagaytay and attended for Batch63. Other La Sallites including business tycoon Ramon del Rosario (ninong) were present at the event. The groom's father, Jim Sr., is also a DLS alumni.(HS62?)

During the ceremonies, tears supposedly welled in Bambi's eyes. For good reason - aside from the fact that his two older boys are married already, Kitten is Bambi's unica hija. Especially after the boys left the family abode, she was all Bambi and Kang had at home and who would usually join them in their social engagements and tours. Kang invited her close friends from St. Theresa's to the wedding and which happy group Jackie and Oni joined in the reception table. The wedding /reception decor was classy, the food and music was good and the guests enjoyed themselves in Tagaytay's cool evening weather.

It is time for the passing of the torch and Bambi and Kang are now empty nesters in their large house in QC. If it's any consolation to Bambi, this is a state that our contemporaries get to be in sooner or later. I philosophize that soon after graduation, the impact of parents on children to be the guiding standard cease to be so. Children of age experiment and think they are wiser. They are never home too especially when they have their own income. So, best wishes to the newly weds on their new life, and Bambi, maybe now you'll have more time for our 7th Note affairs.

October Proxy-Party

xxxx

Vince Misa, the organizer of the joint Batch63 Birthday parties, came to Willow Root looking serious. It seems that he had received late advise from three of the October celebrants that he had lined up. He was counting on them to host the October party and now they are not coming. Jon Arcenas in Roxas City was operated on (prostate) and couldn’t come, Paqui Ortigas is in Iloilo and Mari Vargas just couldn’t make it again. It was also almost 9AM and the other celebrants, Lito Domantay and Joey Estagle, were not yet around. The early guests around the table were beginning to think that the October celebrants may not come and the day could turn out to be a non-affair. Horrors, now they have to pay for their breakfast!

A collective sigh of relief was heard when Lito D and Joey E. eventually came. After a while more good news: Vince was advised by Jon A that he had wired him his contribution to the blowout even if he was not coming. (It was good for Jon to think of the group even if he is still recuperating. Jon, Batch63 wishes you speedy recovery and hope to see you in Manila again soon.) To cap the day, Steve Hontiveros volunteered to advance the share of Paqui O for the blowout. And so it came to past that Willow Root Resto was enjoyed once again by voracious Batch63 diehards including rare birds Paqui Campos, Raffy Villareal, George Cunanan and Ed Lim.

It was a long breakfast session filled with revelations. Have you guys heard of Claudine Jacqueline Baroness Van Boetzelaer? This little girl is a bona fide, real live Netherland royal residing in Europe and the granddaughter of Ed O! According to George, Ed’s son-in-law – Godfried Leonard Olaf Baron Van Boetzelaer - is a real Baron of means (check him out in Wikipedia) who his daughter Anna met when she was working with AMG. Ed now has to address his apo as her highness when he gets to see her. Meanwhile, did you know that Paqui Campos wanted to become an Architect in his youth? He was deterred from this ambition by the mother of his girl friend then - mind you, not his parents or his guidance counselor – but by his girl friend’s Mom. As we now know, Paqui eventually opted to be a great lover and is noticeably a marshmallow when it comes to the loves of his life!

The surprise guest of the day was Au Pijuan. The popular and still lovely former Miss International came upon the invitation of Lito D. She was no stranger to the Batch since she has met some of the guys in the group before. With the encouragement of the politically-active Au, a quick poll was taken up among the guests to find out who among the Philippine Presidentiables are acceptable to them. If the guys present were the basis, it seems that Batch63 wants real big change in the country. Most of those sitting around the table picked Noynoy . . except for four guys: Vince M who was for Erap, Tony Estonina who was for Teodoro and Joey Ingles who was for Ebdane. George C is undecided. It was good to see passion for the choices made. After the polls, Lito D was observed clearly trying to convince the sheepish Vince to change his vote (as if that would make a difference).

Anyway, on another matter, Gabby's birthday is fast approaching. For those who are absent-minded or have not seen the previous notice, be reminded that the big birthday bash is on November 7. Check out the previous Menagerie for the details of the party (click on the linkbelow). It would be civil to RSVP Gabby on your attendance.
